With the beginning of the year the calendar of sport events begins on the island. The first one of the year is the Timanfaya Triathlon that is celebrated on February 10.
The sixth edition of this sport event will take place on Saturday, February 10 at 1:00 p.m. This Triathlon has a distance of 750 meters of swimming, divided into a triangle formed by the point of departure and arrival, located on the beach of the town of Playa Blanca, and two buoys to be left to the right.
After leaving the water comes the bicycle tour that will consist of 20 kms, leaving from the boxes up the street of Varadero Playa Blanca to the roundabout of La Hoya, in Las Salinas de Janubio, and back to Playa Blanca to undertake the last stage.
The last stage will run along the avenue of Papagayo to the Hotel Lanzarote Princess and return to the pit area. This tour will have to be completed four times to finish with 5 kms of race.
The Timanfaya Triathlon has three forms of registration: solo, relay of two people and relay of three people. Registration is open until February 7 or until completing the 230 seats available for the test.

The children also have their own test. Timanfaya Triathlon Kids is adapted for ages: pre-benjamin (2010-2015), benjamin (2009-2008), juvenile (2007-2006) and infantile (2005-2004), with distances for each of the categories. This test will start at 9:30 in the morning.

And as usual after the Timanfaya Triathlon, at 16:15, will be the Tour of Playa Blanca in Handbike. There adapted athletes from all over Europe meet in this test to taking advantage and train in Lanzarote’s winter season thanks to the climate we enjoy.
Undoubtedly one of the first sport events of the year that should not be missed and that will serve to know in what physical form both professional and amateur athletes are after the Christmas holidays.
