On July 7, the first concert of the XXVII Canary Islands Jazz International Festival & more Heineken was held of the two that will take place in Lanzarote. The place chosen to celebrate this first concert, after the changes suffered at the last minute, was the parking of the beach of La Garita, in Arrieta.
27 years ago, this festival was born on the island of Gran Canaria, which over the years has not only been consolidated but expanded. And for years, it has been celebrated in five of the Canary Islands, always with a great reception by the public.
This year in Lanzarote was held, free of charge, in the parking lot of the beach of La Garita, in Arrieta. One hour before the concert, which started around nine o’clock at night, there were already many people sitting waiting or taking the last dip on the beach before going up and taking a place for when the concert began.
The night was opened by the trio tinerfeño 3alDente, presenting what is their first album as a band, although the three components are experienced musicians ranging from classical music, rock, power jazz, Brazilian or folk music; giving rise to a jazz fusion that you just have to hear it and, if possible, live to appreciate it as it deserves.
The second and final performance of the night came from the hand of the Huntertones. This band of six components was born at the University of Columbus although they have now moved to New York. They have toured throughout America, Europe and Africa, and among their repertoire, apart from their own compositions, they perform masterly versions in which they integrate tuba, saxophone and beatbox.
Quite a show to see them live and very funny, especially with the versions of the songs of Michael Jackson. Inevitable was the encore request at the end of the concert, to which they happily accepted.
One night to repeat, without a doubt if you are a lover of good music. Also don’t forget that on July 20, in the Varadero of Puerto del Carmen, the second concert in the island of Lanzarote of this XXVII International Festival Canarias Jazz & more Heineken is celebrated totally free. So there are no excuses for not attending!
