After leaving the Aloe Vera Museum we head to the island’s biggest attraction - Timanfaya National Park, Lanzarote. Formed by volcanic eruptions during the 17th century, this landscape consists of over 25 volcanoes, some of which are dormant and others, active. Temperatures can reach up to 300º C in some areas, just a few feet from the surface. An incredible sight, from which we head to more refreshing, but equally as fascinating places.
Characterised by its fishermen and distinctive beaches, El Golfo, Lanzarote is a treat for your senses. A magical place where the the green lake is the star of the show. This bright green-coloured lagoon sits on a black beach in the crater of a collapsed volcano, and with a channel that connects it to the sea. Just three kilometres along the coast and we come to Los Hervideros, a cluster of cliffs that take the full force of the Atlantic Ocean.
After all this sightseeing, you will probably welcome a glass of Malvasia wine from Lanzarote, a speciality of the La Geria region. The heart of any wine tour in Lanzarote, La Geria offers a range of wineries where you can learn how this delicious Lanzarote wine is grown and produced in a unique volcanic landscape.
The island of Lanzarote has learned to adapt to what nature has thrown at them, in every sense of the word. The Aloe Vera Museum in Yaiza, is one of the best examples of this, and is the first stop of this Fuerteventura to Lanzarote day trip. An interesting place where you learn how Aloe vera is cultivated and prepared, as well as about its many properties.
